"In spite of everything, kids were trying to look hip, even under risk of arrest."

They did this by not wearing excatly what they were suppose to be wearing which is the veil so the kids made it hipper by adding coats, hats and all sorts of stuff. But of all they tried to change the law or rule or whatever they had back then that some of the kids tried to break. I think if I was in their predicament I would probably have done the same thing. I dont like dressing or even looking like people in general. I cant help it... But anyway back to the subject I think I wouldnt have wore the veil I think I would have been the one to protest over it. I like to be a leader not a follower. Even through I would have gotten arrested or even wrost killed over it I would have probably still done it, people these days dont understand what other people back then had to go through. I think if we had a test that involved "the veil" only half of the world would pass because maybe the other side of the world is going through all of it still. The test would test by putting veil's on everybody in the North of the America and see if they could survive that or putting dull suits on men so they can wear it everyday and putting skirts and baggy blouse's on women so no part of their skin can be seen. The world we live in now is lucky...very lucky.

"At the core of the book is Marji's family."
Marji's family is to me independent in there own way. The let there daughter one time go to a protest which she almost got hurt in. Marji's parents let's her be independent also.By wanting to be a prophet and when she tells her teacher and it comes back to her parents they really dont care and really dont see whats wrong. Marji's parents create an environment to speak the truth but not in front of the wrong people. Thats like when she was young and she told the teacher she wanted to be a prophet that got her in trouble. Plus Marji likes to speak her mind alot, her parents let her. The parents get their strength from what they had to fight for before all of this ever happened. I think that if me parents were back their at the time with me they would let me speak my mind also. So Marji's parents are leaders. Her father I think seems the strongest, for example when Marji had to chnage schools because she spoke her mind alittle to much she got in trouble again at the new school and her parents took up for her even her dad insulted the teacher.Which is a "goon" mood. She didnt even get in trouble with her parents they just by passed the situation.
"Every situation has an opportunity for laughs."
To me I think that how they be having parties as the war was still going on. Some of the people really didnt care because they still were doing their thug thizzle. I respect that. They didnt let that perdicament let them down. Even when it was against the law to have or throw a party. The still saled and brought or had things the wasnt suppose to have. What made me laugh was how the still had a good time even when something terrible was around them.Satrapi added comic relief by caring but then again not caring really. I would have done the same thing. I would have enjoyed by time even through something bad was happening. The scenes relevant to the story because they do it through the whole thing mostly every hoiday or speacial event.
